Karen Wall

Karen Wall

On my first day at playgroup, I discovered the wonderful world of paint and pencils. This led to a career in textile, ceramic and greeting card design before I became a children’s book illustrator. Nowadays, although I use brushes and computer in place of my fingers, I still feel the same joy in drawing and painting as I did then.

I dream up my ideas in a studio looking out across the rooftops of south London: the perfect place to daydream. I love colourful, fun pictures. After all, aren’t most things in life made better with a dash of humour and splash of colour?

When I’m not drawing, you’ll probably find me in the garden.

Favourite books as a child:
‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, ‘Meg and Mog’, ‘The Phantom Tollbooth’, ‘The Worst Witch’ and most other magical tales.
